About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Closing Pre-K Teacher to join our team at the Whatcom Family YMCA. As a Closing Pre-K Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters the social, emotional, and cognitive development of our young learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and care for children in a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans that promote social-emotional learning and cognitive development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to ensure a smooth transition between home and school.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and stay up-to-date with best practices in early childhood education.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; early childhood education degree or certification preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate program activities.
  • Current CPR (Adult, Infant & Child) and First Aid certifications.
  • Complete Praesidium Child Abuse prevention training within 15 days of hire.
  • STARS 30 Hour Childcare Basic Training (must be completed within 3 months of hire date).
  • Must have or be in the process of obtaining the following: Negative TB Test, HIV/Bloodborne Pathogen training, Safe Sleep, MERIT ID account, Food Handlers Card, Cleared Portable Background Check from MERIT, MMR Immunization Record.
