Job Summary

Cranemasters is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Logistics Specialist to join our team. As a Logistics Specialist, you will be responsible for obtaining transportation permits for over-weight and over-sized equipment while meeting our 1-hour customer promise for deployment of work crews in response to calls for emergency services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transportation Permit Management: Obtain transportation permits for over-weight and over-sized vehicles/equipment in response to both calls for emergency services and for performance of contracted work.
  • Dispatch and Coordination: Efficiently and effectively dispatch emergency crews to carry out service requirements, delivering service to both internal and external customers while meeting Cranemasters expectations for excellence.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Relay information between all parties (customers, Cranemasters team members, emergency response agencies, etc.) and seek opportunities to facilitate work accomplishment in the field by securing information related to weather conditions, medical services, availability of 24/7 facilities for fuel and food, and obtaining overnight accommodations as may be needed.
  • Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative tasks in accordance with standard procedures, including set-up of job numbers and job files, maintaining job logs, and updating with information documenting progress, materials used, equipment/vehicles, etc.
  • Reporting and Data Entry: Utilize Excel and/or ViewPoint (or other software) to capture/enter data related to man-hours, materials, equipment, travel time, over-night accommodations, etc. in support of billing customer(s) for services.
  • Scheduling and Travel Management: Responsible for updating daily schedule to include employee and equipment assignments for contract and emergency work, and maintaining CDL Driver Qualification Files.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of three years' work experience in logistics/dispatching/transportation/heavy construction operations/business.
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED supplemented by training/education that would be the equivalent of an associates' degree.
  • Skills: Strong and proactive communication skills, excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, knowledge of D.O.T./FMCSA regulations, and ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Availability: Must meet 24/7 availability to respond to emergency calls for service, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands
  • Working Conditions: Ability to answer phones to assist customers, answer questions, dispatch crews, and communicate information with direct impact on operations and emergency response situations.
  • Physical Abilities: Working extended hours, ability to perform tasks under stressful conditions, occasional bending, twisting, stooping, standing, and/or walking, and walking/carrying/lifting items associated with normal office work (not to exceed 50 lbs.).
