Position Overview:

The Commissioning Technician will be instrumental in facilitating various project tasks, which include planning, evaluations, site inspections, troubleshooting, and field operations. This role requires close collaboration with the Project Manager, Senior Project Engineer, or Senior Technician, and may involve coordination with clients, contractors, and subcontractors. The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in relevant service functions, a solid grasp of systems, and exceptional technical abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Partner with project teams and clients to ensure effective planning, scheduling, and execution of project tasks.
  • Technical Evaluations and Reviews: Perform detailed assessments of design documents and conduct on-site evaluations to verify system performance, energy efficiency, and overall project integrity.
  • Innovative Problem-Solving: Engage in troubleshooting and diagnostics, crafting innovative solutions to intricate technical issues.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Develop and manage comprehensive reports, checklists, and presentations, ensuring transparent communication of project status and outcomes.
  • Leadership and Oversight: Direct and support the work of auxiliary staff, subcontractors, and contractors, ensuring all tasks are executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Client and Team Engagement: Foster strong, enduring relationships with clients, project teams, and contractors, contributing to a positive and collaborative work atmosphere.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in testing, adjusting, and balancing; controls; MEP and control system design; energy auditing; commissioning; retro-commissioning; and/or construction.
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with sustainability, energy management principles, and energy efficiency strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Physical capability to perform field tasks in existing buildings and construction sites.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant technical certifications or licenses (e.g., LEED AP, AABC, NEBB, TABB, BCxA).
