About the Role:
The Principal Faculty member serves as a Full-time Faculty Instructor within the Physician Assistant Program, focusing on course instruction and coordination during both the didactic and clinical phases. This role is crucial in ensuring that students meet the program's Student Learning Outcomes and develop the competencies necessary for successful PA practice. The Principal Faculty member collaborates closely with the Directors of Didactic and Clinical Education, as well as the Program Director, to assess curriculum and maintain compliance with ARC-PA accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction in the PA program, coordinating a minimum of six courses annually.
- Engage in lecturing based on clinical and professional expertise.
- Provide academic guidance as a Small Group Facilitator and Student Advisor.
- Assist in the administrative coordination of both the didactic and clinical phases of the program.
- Contribute to curriculum development and ongoing evaluation.
- Conduct student assessments, including objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) and lab practicals.
- Create and evaluate examinations aligned with ARC-PA accreditation standards.
- Participate in program admissions processes and community engagement activities.
- Engage in professional development opportunities related to teaching and academic administration.
- Support clinical site development and monitoring.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Directors and Campus Leadership.
Qualifications:
Knowledge:
- Terminal degree in healthcare disciplines such as pharmacy, public health, or physician assistant; a minimum of a Master's degree is required.
- Eligibility for professional licensure/certification in the applicable state and healthcare discipline.
- 1-2 years of teaching experience in a graduate health-related field is preferred; 3 years of clinical experience is required.
- Experience in PA/medical classroom instruction is advantageous.
- Current NCCPA certification is mandatory for PAs.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with students and staff.
- Excellent organizational and self-motivation skills.
- Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office Suite.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Capacity to interpret and implement accreditation criteria and regulations.
- Skill in addressing inquiries and complaints from various stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks.
