Position Overview:
The Principal Faculty member in the Physician Assistant Program serves as a Full-time Faculty Instructor, primarily focusing on course instruction and coordination during both the didactic and clinical phases of the program. This role is crucial in ensuring that students achieve the program's Student Learning Outcomes and meet the competencies necessary for PA practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction in the PA program, coordinating a minimum of six courses annually.
- Provide academic advising and facilitate small group discussions.
- Collaborate with the Director of Didactic Education to manage the administrative aspects of the didactic phase.
- Assist the Director of Clinical Education in overseeing the clinical phase.
- Contribute to curriculum development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation.
- Conduct student assessments, including objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) and practical evaluations.
- Participate in the admissions process, including candidate evaluations and selection meetings.
- Engage in community service and scholarly activities relevant to the role.
- Support clinical site development and monitoring.
- Provide remedial instruction as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in healthcare disciplines (e.g., pharmacy, public health, physician assistant) with a minimum of a Master's degree.
- Eligibility for professional licensure/certification in the applicable state.
- 1-2 years of teaching experience in a graduate health-related field preferred; 3 years of clinical experience required.
- Current NCCPA certification for PAs.
