Position Summary:
The Principal Faculty member in the Physician Assistant Program plays a crucial role in delivering course instruction and coordinating educational activities during both the didactic and clinical phases of the program. This position requires expertise in course design, delivery, and assessment, ensuring that students achieve the necessary competencies for successful PA practice. The faculty member will collaborate closely with the Directors of Didactic and Clinical Education, as well as the Program Director, to uphold curriculum standards and meet accreditation requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction across a minimum of six courses annually.
- Facilitate small group discussions and provide academic advising to students.
- Support the administrative coordination of both the didactic and clinical phases of the program.
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate student performance through various assessment methods, including OSCEs and lab practicals.
- Participate in the admissions process, including candidate evaluations and selection meetings.
- Engage in community service and scholarly activities relevant to the faculty role.
- Provide remedial instruction as necessary and assist with clinical site development.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by program leadership.
Qualifications:
Knowledge:
- Terminal degree in healthcare disciplines such as pharmacy, public health, or physician assistant; a minimum of a Master's degree is required.
- Eligibility for professional licensure/certification in the relevant state and discipline.
- Preferred 1-2 years of teaching experience in a graduate health-related field; a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience is required.
- Current NCCPA certification for PAs is mandatory.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students and staff.
- Excellent organizational and self-motivation skills.
- Proficient in using MS Office Suite and educational technology tools.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Capacity to interpret and implement accreditation standards and regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address inquiries from various stakeholders.
- Adaptability to changing priorities and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
