The Visual Arts Instructor will facilitate high school art classes. The instructor will be tasked with integrating academic content with current issues, community initiatives, and a youth development framework.

Foster supportive and positive relationships with students.Ensure that the curriculum is academically challenging.

Encourage critical thinking and self-assessment among students.
Consistent application of differentiation and scaffolding strategies.
Collaborate with students to create individualized learning plans that guide their educational journey and ensure progress towards their goals.

Job Description - Instructor
Basic Function:
Conduct the daily activities associated with delivering the curriculum of the school program to the students.
I) DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Administrative:
- Comprehend and commit to the vision, mission, and objectives of San Jose Conservation Corps.
- Understand the role and function of the Corps Board.
- Be aware of and committed to the vision, mission, and objectives of the Charter School.
- Design and utilize class rosters/report attendance in accordance with established rules and policies.
- Conduct written monthly assessments of student progress.
- Prepare progress reports and other necessary administrative documentation.
- Maintain work samples and required logs per established Charter School policies and procedures.
- Engage in and support extracurricular activities to promote a positive Charter School program.
Instruction:
- Design and develop course curriculum and materials for all classes.
- Provide instruction tailored to varying educational abilities within each classroom.
- Understand diverse learning styles and techniques in the classroom.
- Be knowledgeable about factors that may impede student progress, such as socio-economic, psychological, emotional, and learning disabilities.
- Collaborate with field supervisors as necessary.
- Deliver relevant educational lessons for students in work settings.
- Organize, attend, and supervise field trips as appropriate.
Advising/Case Management:
- Schedule individual meetings with students.
- Assist in placing students in suitable intervention programs.
- Support students facing challenges that may hinder their educational success.
Personal Development:
- Serve as a positive role model for all students; present a positive image of oneself and the Charter School to the community.
- Continuously pursue growth and professional development.
- Attend staff development sessions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Participate in professional conferences and seminars as approved; actively seek learning experiences.
II) KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Present all subject matters effectively.
- Understand operations, procedures, terminology, specific rules, and precedents of the Charter School program.
- Be familiar with policies and objectives of the Charter School program.
- Understand school organization, operations, policies, and objectives.
- Know laws, rules, and regulations related to Charter School activities.
- Operate office machines, including computers and specific software applications.
- Maintain statistical records.
- Be knowledgeable about modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Exhibit interpersonal skills with tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Utilize correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
- Demonstrate telephone techniques and etiquette.
- Understand applicable sections of the State Education Code and other relevant laws.
III) ABILITY TO:
- Perform a variety of responsible and specialized academic and administrative tasks.
- Assist the Principal with administrative matters requiring knowledge of Charter School policies, procedures, and related codes and laws.
- Read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Exercise independent judgment and analysis to coordinate operations.
- Maintain records and prepare reports.
- Operate various office equipment, including word processors, computers, printers, FAX machines, copiers, etc.
- Work independently.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action.
- Meet schedules and deadlines.
- Work confidentially with discretion.
- Arrange and attend meetings, workshops, and conferences.
- Complete work despite interruptions.
