Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a skilled Mental Health Worker to provide high-quality care to patients in our acute psychiatric hospital. As a member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in promoting a safe and therapeutic treatment environment that fosters recovery and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Initiate, observe, document, and communicate patient needs to ensure safety on the unit, including Line of Sight precautions and one-on-one supervision as clinically indicated.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate groups with other team members based on training and competence.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including feeding, hygiene, and ambulation.
  • Apply thorough knowledge of treatment philosophy, goals, policies, rules, and regulations to make independent judgments in providing basic patient care activities.
  • Participate in treatment planning and support implementation of the treatment plan on the unit with the patient.
  • Assist with delivery of physical care as needed and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 6 months direct patient care experience in an acute psychiatric hospital or psychiatric health facility, or 2 years of experience within the last 5 years delivering direct patient-focused care on behavioral disabilities.
  • Associates Degree or equivalent of 2 years of college coursework in nursing, social, or behavioral sciences.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual skills.
  • Knowledge of treatment philosophy, goals, policies, rules, and regulations related to patient care, as well as interest in working in a recovery-promoting environment using a Wellness/Recovery Model.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology used in psychiatric care of patients.
