Position Overview:
The Psychiatric Care Specialist is tasked with delivering essential support to address the mental and physical care requirements of patients. This role is vital in establishing a secure and nurturing treatment atmosphere that promotes individual recovery. Responsibilities include collaborating with a healthcare team, engaging in personalized interactions grounded in the Wellness and Recovery Philosophy, and monitoring and reporting on patient behaviors. The Psychiatric Care Specialist also plays a key role in maintaining unit safety and encouraging patient participation in therapeutic programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure patient well-being by observing, documenting, and promptly communicating their needs.
- Facilitate therapeutic group sessions and assist patients with daily living activities.
- Support the execution of treatment plans and engage in fundamental patient care tasks.
- Provide necessary physical care and undertake additional assigned responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 6 months of direct patient care experience in a psychiatric healthcare environment.
- Associate's Degree or equivalent coursework in nursing or behavioral sciences.
- Basic Life Support Certification.
- Proven skills in caring for individuals with mental health issues and effective communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual capabilities and familiarity with treatment philosophies and objectives are preferred.
- Interest in working within a recovery-oriented setting utilizing a Wellness/Recovery Model.
- Understanding of psychiatric care principles and relevant terminology.
