Direct Care Specialist

The RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Direct Care Specialist to join our inter-disciplinary mental health environment. As a Direct Care Specialist, you will be an integral part of our team, supporting our therapists, dietitians, and nurses in achieving their discipline-specific treatment plans.
Responsibilities- Maintain the physical and psychological safety of clients, including assigned tasks such as taking and recording vital signs, weights, and meal observations.
- Document observations and notify supervisors or licensed staff of any unusual findings.
- Dispense medication and administer First Aid according to facility policy.
- Eat meals with clients as prepared and provided by the kitchen and dietary staff.
- Document patient progress and provide one-on-one assistance to clients in crisis.
- Assist clients with nutritional and dietary needs as indicated by the facility's nutritionist and interdisciplinary plan.
- Communicate with clients and significant others, and assist with family concerns in a pleasant and efficient manner.
- Maintain and communicate the level system with clients, and advise licensed staff of issues related to level system compliance.
- Demonstrate professional conduct, concern, respect, and compassion toward all clients, families, co-workers, and the public.
- Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean appearance and hygienic conditions of the facility.
- Lead or co-lead and facilitate groups for Residential, Partial Hospital, or Intensive Outpatient Clients.
- High School Diploma required.
- One year of experience in the behavioral health field.
- Current valid Class E Driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- L1MA certificate must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Current CPR certification, preferably through the American Heart Association, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Knowledge regarding supervision of others.
- Physically able to perform most household duties, including lifting up to 20 pounds and engaging in basic recreational activities.
