Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer (Optics)

The Materials Engineering team plays a crucial role in supporting our mission by designing and manufacturing highly specialized optical components.

Responsibilities:

  • Design manufacturable processes for fabricating optical components
  • Develop cost-effective high-volume manufacturing processes for polishing glass and SiC optical components
  • Perform hands-on engineering and liaison between the design team and production organization as SpaceX ramps up manufacturing
  • Take responsibility for introducing components into high-rate manufacturing
  • Contribute to design reviews, focusing on design for manufacturability, testability, yield improvements, supplier capabilities assessments, quality control, etc.
  • Perform structured root cause analysis of in-process failures
  • Train production personnel and leadership

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in optical engineering, physics, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, electrical engineering, or other relevant discipline
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in optical materials and manufacturing engineering

Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum
