Job Overview:

As a Manufacturing Engineer (Optics), you will play a vital role in designing and manufacturing highly specialized optical components that support our mission to enable human life on Mars.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use fundamental materials knowledge to design manufacturable processes for fabricating optical components
  • Develop and implement cost-effective high-volume manufacturing processes for polishing glass and SiC optical components
  • Collaborate with the design team and production organization to ensure smooth manufacturing operations
  • Ensure the successful introduction of components into high-rate manufacturing
  • Contribute to design reviews, providing expertise on design for manufacturability, testability, yield improvements, supplier capabilities assessments, quality control, etc.
  • Investigate and resolve in-process failures through structured root cause analysis
  • Provide training and guidance to production personnel and leadership

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in optical engineering, physics, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, electrical engineering, or other relevant discipline
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in optical materials and manufacturing engineering
