Job Description

UCP Oregon is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Family Support Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Family Support department, you will play a vital role in providing information, resources, and support to families raising children with cerebral palsy and similar physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome new families to UCP's Family Support Service by connecting them to our Newly-Diagnosed packets and providing information about appropriate early intervention and developmental disability resources.
  • Provide continuous and timely contact with new and current families related to finding in-home supports, training, and resource navigation via phone and email.
  • Plan, promote, and implement events for families and children, including the monthly support group, family outings, trainings, and the every-other-year Family Support Conference.
  • Promote and participate in legislative advocacy to increase services for children that experience intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
  • Collaborate with other family organizations throughout Oregon to stay aware of resources and legislative activities.
  • Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.
  • Attend conferences representing UCP Family Support and present at Development Disability team meetings to share with county caseworkers the services and supports UCP provide to families.
  • Oversee the every-other-year Family Support Conference, which involves planning and implementing the event, applying for grants, and coordinating logistics.
Requirements:
  • Associates degree and 2+ years of work experience in the field of developmental disabilities, social services, education, mental health, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines with little supervision.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with diverse groups of people.
  • Able to plan, promote, and implement small and large events.
  • Strategic thinker with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, active listening, and empathetic skills.
  • Strong relationship building experience.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Creative, self-starting, and oriented toward action and results.
  • Excellent computer skills, with high degree of competency using Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and social media platforms.
  • Travel is required, and must be at least 18 years old, have a current driver's license, a reliable personal vehicle, at least two years of driving experience, auto insurance, and a clean driving record.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule that may include occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Be able to pass a reference check and a criminal history background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with the disability community, such as a parent, family member, or caregiver of a child experiencing disability, and/or experience working with other marginalized/underserved communities.
  • Non-profit work experience preferred.
Benefits:
  • $28.92 to $32.19 per hour, depending on experience. Annual wage increase based on satisfactory performance.
  • Eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 hours per week.
