Job Summary:

Knife River - South is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, rollers, graders, and other machinery.

Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment
• Safely and properly perform maintenance on equipment
• Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions
• Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, and stockpiling
• Operate equipment on public roadways, maintaining proper awareness of surroundings
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of equipment
• Troubleshoot and problem-solve situations and problems
• Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety, and environmental regulations

Requirements:

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical
• Must meet Knife River-South employment standards with regards to background and MVR checks
• Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours
• Ability to work outside in all seasons
• Must have a "safety first" attitude

Preferred Requirements:

• Previous experience operating construction equipment and maintenance is preferred
• Previous knowledge of earthwork, road, and highway construction is preferred
• High school diploma/GED is preferred
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record is preferred
