Hardware Quality Assurance Manager

We are seeking a seasoned Quality Assurance professional to lead our efforts in ensuring the highest standards of reliability in our lunar rover projects.

Job Summary

The Quality Engineering Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust quality control strategy, encompassing hardware non-conformance handling, inspection processes, and material review board management.

This role requires expertise in root cause problem solving, supplier quality audit processes, and configuration management. The successful candidate will have experience working with NASA projects and industry standards, as well as a deep understanding of mechanical and avionics systems.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality control strategy
  • Manage hardware non-conformance handling process and physical implementation on the shop floor
  • Define inspection processes and procedures for receiving, work in progress, and closeout activities
  • Lead Material Review Board process and manage continuous improvement initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement of Astrolab's FOD and ESD programs
  • Design for Quality (DfX) contributions from concept through design reviews
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field; master's degree or relevant certifications preferred
  • 5+ years' experience in spaceflight programs, preferably with NASA projects
  • Experience in build reliability, quality assurance, or quality control, particularly with mechanisms, avionics, and vehicle integration
  • Expertise in root cause problem solving across the product life cycle
  • Deep understanding of industry and NASA mechanical and avionics standards
