High Performance Computing Systems Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled HPC Systems Engineer to join our team at Space Exploration Technologies Corp. As an HPC Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in administering and managing our high-performance computing clusters, storage systems, and high-speed networks.
Salary and Benefits
The estimated salary for this position is $120,000-$160,000 per year. In addition to your base salary, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, such as company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards. Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks.
Job Responsibilities
- Administer and manage HPC clusters, storage systems, and high-speed networks.
- Provide application support to SpaceX employees across engineering disciplines.
- Install and integrate Linux-based compute clusters.
- Write instructional documentation and convey highly technical ideas in non-technical terms.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or scientific discipline; OR 2+ years of professional experience building software in lieu of a degree.
- Experience with Linux.
- Experience with client and server hardware/software, management tools, enterprise networking, virtualization, and security technologies.
- Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Prior experience with:
- Linux system administration.
- Scripting languages (Bash, Python).
- HPC cluster management.
- Cluster resource managers (Slurm, PBS, LSF).
- Monitoring and alerting technologies (Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios).
- Scientific and engineering computing (CFD, FEA).
- ML frameworks (PyTorch, Tensorflow).
- GPU usage in a compute cluster and Cuda.
- Containerization (Docker, Podman, Singularity).
- Automated configuration management software (Puppet, Ansible).
