Position Overview:

The Quality Engineer will support the Plant Quality Manager in maintaining the quality management system, ensuring compliance with customer product quality requirements, and facilitating effective problem resolution with customers and suppliers. This role involves conducting internal quality audits and assisting in supplier evaluation and development initiatives. Travel to various facilities may be required.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in customer meetings and follow up on product concerns and rejections.
  • Conduct scrap reviews and communicate findings to manufacturing facilities.
  • Provide support across different plants and shifts as needed for problem-solving and special projects, including Launch Teams and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Assist in training hourly staff on quality standards and specifications.
  • Investigate product defects and recommend modifications to products, processes, or quality standards as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and plant personnel.
  • Monitor the performance of internal quality systems and report findings with actionable recommendations.
  • Compile and maintain customer performance data and assist in the documentation of PPAP for new and modified products.
  • Support the maintenance of the Corrective/Preventive Action System.
  • Help implement best practices in manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Participate in internal audits and assist the Plant Quality Manager as directed.

Qualifications:
  • Self-motivated with a proactive attitude.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in problem-solving and analytical techniques (8D, DOE).
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and provide timely recommendations.
  • Competent in the use of personal computers and relevant software.
  • In-depth knowledge of PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA, and PFMEA.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001/IATF 16949 standards.
  • Proficient in GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
  • Understanding of quality systems, practices, and principles.

Working Conditions:

The Quality Engineer will operate in both office and production environments, adhering to plant conditions. The role requires the ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time and be mobile for the other 50% on the production floor. The position involves operating computers and machinery and necessitates frequent communication with colleagues and external contacts.


Education and Experience:

A degree in engineering or a related technical field, along with ASQ certification, is strongly preferred. Candidates should have three to seven years of experience in quality assurance or a related field within a manufacturing setting.
