Position Overview:


The role involves supporting the Ravenna Operations & Plant Quality Manager in maintaining the existing quality management system, reviewing customer product quality specifications, and assisting in timely and effective problem resolution with clients and suppliers. Responsibilities also include conducting internal quality audits within the division and contributing to supplier auditing and development initiatives.

Travel to various facilities may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend client meetings as necessary, including follow-ups on product rejections and concerns.
  • Conduct scrap analyses and communicate findings to manufacturing facilities in a standardized format.
  • Be available to work across different plants and shifts as needed to assist in problem-solving or special projects requiring additional resources.
  • Support the training and development of hourly staff on quality standards.
  • Investigate product defects and recommend modifications to products, processes, and quality standards as needed.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, suppliers, and Metal Technologies personnel.
  • Monitor the performance of internal quality systems and report findings with recommendations to the Plant Quality Manager and relevant personnel.
  • Compile and maintain customer performance data.
  • Assist in the documentation and submission of PPAP for new and modified products.
  • Support the maintenance of the Corrective/Preventive Action System.
  • Aid manufacturing plants in implementing best practice processes and procedures.
  • Participate in internal audits.
  • Assist the Plant Quality Manager as directed.

Qualifications:

  • Self-driven and enthusiastic.

  • Ability to analyze complex situations and provide timely recommendations.
  • Competent in the use of computers and relevant software.
  • In-depth knowledge of PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA, and PFMEA.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001/IATF 16949 standards and requirements.
  • Proficient in GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
  • Understanding of quality systems, practices, and principles.
Working Conditions

  • The Quality Engineer will work both in the office and on the production floor, adhering to plant conditions.
Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time and be on their feet for the other 50% on the production floor.
  • Must be able to navigate the office and plant environments.
  • This position involves operating a computer and other machinery.
  • Frequent communication with employees and other individuals is required.
  • This role may involve travel to various facilities.

Education and Experience:

  • An engineering or technical degree and/or ASQ certification is strongly preferred.
  • Three to seven years of experience in quality or a related field within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
