Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia's Training and Technical Assistance Center at Radford University is seeking a qualified and experienced education professional to provide training and consultation related to the performance of students with disabilities in K-12 schools targeted for assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide coaching and professional development regarding evidence-based practices in instructional and learning strategies, academic and behavioral instruction and supports, inclusive practices, and high-leverage practices.
  • Increase the capacity of schools and divisions to improve outcomes of students with disabilities through data-based decision making, systems change, and team development.
  • Develop and provide multi-tiered instructional support for academics, behavior, and mental wellness.
  • Plan and provide specially designed instruction and high-leverage practices in inclusive public education settings.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Provide professional development to teachers and administrators.
  • Coach and collaborate with classroom teachers on academic and behavior content and strategies.
  • Facilitate school team development and school change and improvement.
  • Interpret state and federal educational regulations.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of effective practices and current issues in education and special education.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Extensive understanding of school teams and school improvement efforts related to academic achievement for students with disabilities.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work flexible hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and implementation of evidence-based instructional strategies in reading or mathematics.
  • Experience in planning and providing specially designed instruction and high-leverage practices in inclusive public education settings.
  • Experience in developing and implementing IEPs.
  • Experience in providing professional development to teachers and administrators.
  • Experience in coaching and collaborating with classroom teachers.
  • Experience in facilitating school team development and school change and improvement.
  • Advanced degree in Special Education strongly preferred.
