Job Summary

The Electrical Preconstruction Manager is a key member of our preconstruction team at BE&K Building Group, responsible for overseeing all preconstruction activities related to electrical systems in large-volume commercial and industrial construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preconstruction Leadership: Lead and manage all electrical preconstruction activities from project initiation through to the start of construction.
  • Comprehensive Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive preconstruction plans that align with overall project goals and client expectations.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into the overall project.
  • Project Execution: Drive the execution of preconstruction strategies to meet or exceed project deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Client and Stakeholder Management: Maintain close communication with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure all project requirements are understood and met.
  • Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical systems in commercial and industrial construction projects.
  • Value Engineering: Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering options to clients and project teams.
  • Preconstruction Budgeting: Develop and manage preconstruction budgets for electrical systems, ensuring alignment with the overall project budget.
  • Cost Analysis and Recommendations: Provide real-time cost analysis and recommendations to ensure projects remain within budget constraints.
  • Schedule Development and Management: Develop and/or review detailed schedules for electrical systems that align with overall project timelines.
  • Project Monitoring and Control: Monitor and adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changes in project scope or client requirements.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert on all electrical systems for commercial and industrial construction projects.
  • Industry Knowledge and Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in electrical systems and construction.
  • Technical Guidance and Support: Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams on electrical systems design, installation, and maintenance.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge: Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations for electrical systems in construction projects.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on electrical systems.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Proven experience in cost estimating, budgeting, and project management for large-scale commercial and industrial projects. In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including design, installation, and maintenance. Strong understanding of construction contracts, schedules, and budgets.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • LEAN Methodologies and Applications: Training and work experience with LEAN methodologies and applications. Strong process orientation.
  • Professional Certifications: Professional certifications such as LEED AP, PMP, or equivalent.
  • Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Electrical Systems: Experience with sustainable and energy-efficient electrical systems.
  • Digital Construction Technologies: Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other digital construction technologies.
