About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic III to join our team at TransForce. As a key member of our maintenance unit, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment to ensure it is in safe operating condition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair complex issues with heavy equipment, including transmissions, brake systems, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks, including inspections and adjustments on fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, and clutches.
  • Change filters and oil, lubricate vehicles and motor-driven equipment, and tune gas and diesel engines.
  • Service valves, fuel filters, and turbochargers, and adjust injector heights, fuel racks, and governors.
  • Maintain service logs and records of maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
  • Complete annual DOT safety inspections on the vehicle fleet and certify vehicles for 49 CFR 396 DOT compliance.
Requirements
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in automotive and heavy equipment repair, including at least one year of experience with diagnosis and repair of heavy diesel equipment.
  • Satisfactory completion of a formalized apprenticeship program or higher-level non-correspondence coursework in automotive and diesel equipment mechanics or heavy equipment mechanics may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a current valid Commercial Driver's License Class A with no restriction on air brakes.
  • Must pass a pre-employment screening, which may include social security number trace, criminal records check, public court records check, educational records, and driving records checks.
Work Environment

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent travel during the workday to perform field repairs, attend trainings, and meetings. The successful candidate must be able to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions for long periods of time and be exposed to loud noises, fumes, odors, gases, dusts, and electrical shock.

This position is required to have a Commercial Driver's License Class A or B with no restrictions on air brakes or manual transmissions that allows operation in Colorado at the time of application.
