Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Operations Manager to oversee and maintain the buildings, grounds, and equipment at various facilities and offsite Archdiocesan properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of general maintenance tasks, including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and painting, as well as managing and overseeing staff, including some volunteers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilities Maintenance: Completes all maintenance work assigned and responds to after-hour building maintenance and emergencies.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Performs repairs or general maintenance, including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, glazier, masonry, and painting tasks.
  • Facilities Assessment: Conducts ongoing assessment of facilities and grounds, identifying areas of repair and maintenance as required.
  • Record Keeping: Maintains record of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • Problem Solving: Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them, checking repair manuals and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Security and Safety: Maintains security of campus buildings, including checking, opening, closing, and locking doors and windows, activating and deactivating building alarm, and responding to alarm calls after and during regular work hours.
  • Landscape Maintenance: Performs a variety of tasks in the maintenance and alterations of landscape areas, including mowing, weeding, trimming grass and shrubs, minor tree trimming, and hauling off, as well as irrigation maintenance.
  • Meeting Room Setup: Prepares, sets up, and breaks down meeting room setup per work order request, including tables, chairs, and meeting equipment.
  • Inventory Management: Maintains an inventory of facility maintenance items and orders supplies as necessary.
  • Staff Supervision: Directs and oversees Facility Maintenance & Sanitation staff.
  • Contractor Oversight: Directs and oversees work of authorized contractors and technicians.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Parish Safety Coordinator: Performs the duties of Parish Safety Coordinator, including maintaining a formal record of all inspections, tests, repairs, and/or updates, maintaining files of all municipal and state safety/security guidelines, maintaining ADA equipment, and performing regular inspection and operational performance of all fire and security alarms and equipment.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school degree or equivalent, two years' proven experience in building/facilities maintenance, strong organizational skills, ability to plan and organize to meet parish goals and deadlines, strong project and time management skills, and strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of staff and management.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Licensed plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, previous buildings maintenance staff manager experience, and bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
