Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor I - Plumbing to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, care, and repair of state facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, assign, and schedule staff for maintenance and construction projects
  • Oversee the work of maintenance staff, including supervising, training, and evaluating their performance
  • Requisition materials and supplies, estimate job work hours and materials required for projects, and coordinate activities with other supervisors
  • Ensure all work is in compliance with regulatory standards, including The Joint Commission and The Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with an Intellectual Disability
  • Develop procedures, services, and performance standards to provide quality services to consumers, patients, staff, and visitors
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including participating in disaster response and recovery efforts
Requirements
  • Knowledge of HHSC Plant Maintenance policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes and accreditation standards and inspection procedures
  • Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance, construction techniques, plumbing and heating systems, electrical systems, sanitation practices, fire and safety regulations and procedures
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Ability to develop effective work methods, draw rough sketches of proposed projects, and supervise the work of others
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, vendors, and hospital staff
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.
