Public Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Law Enforcement Officer to join our team at the Village of Oak Park Illinois. As a key member of our public safety team, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, preventing crimes, and providing excellent service to our community.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol and Enforcement: Patrol designated areas to preserve law and order, prevent crimes, and arrest offenders.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency calls, including domestic disturbances, civil complaints, property and violent crimes, automobile accidents, and related incidents.
- Investigations: Conduct investigations of crimes, gather and preserve evidence, interview victims, complainants, and witnesses, and identify and interrogate suspects.
- Community Engagement: Maintain contact with citizens, provide public education on crime and crime prevention, and promote positive relationships between police officers and citizens.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare clear and accurate reports on arrests, activities, and incidents.
- Education: Possession of an Associate's degree or successful completion of sixty (60) semester hours at an accredited college or university.
- Experience: Two years of law enforcement experience is required.
- Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid driver's license and a police officer certificate.
Work in an emergency peace control environment, with exposure to dangerous persons, firearms, bodily fluids, and noise. Must be able to run, walk, crawl, climb, stop, and lift. Work in inclement weather conditions.
