Job Title: Behavioral Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavioral Health Specialist to join our team at DMCS. As a Behavioral Health Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing direct care and support to teenage youth in a 24-hour facility.

Responsibilities:
  • Engage in the constant supervision of children individually and in groups to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Complete Special Incident Reports as required and document daily progress.
  • Assist youth in developing social, hygiene, and other essential skills.
  • Administer discipline and set limits for behaviors, while promoting a positive and respectful environment.
  • Attend all required orientation classes, training sessions, and meetings.
  • Participate in meaningful shift exchanges and supervise family visits and appointments as needed.
  • Document and communicate daily findings to professional/management staff.
  • Prepare food and maintain a clean living environment.
  • Supervise off-ground activities, shopping trips, and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Follow all medication guidelines and assist with homework assignments.
  • Comply with all state, local, and licensure requirements.
  • Follow agency policies and procedures and serve as a positive role model.
Requirements:
  • Majoring in Psychology, Social Work, or Mental Health, or a related field.
  • 60 units or AA degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience working with at-risk youth.
  • Non-relevant Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Relevant Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science with 1-year relevant experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Clearance requirements, including Live Scan fingerprinting and a good driving record.
