Job Title: Behavioral Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavioral Health Specialist to join our team at DMCS. As a Behavioral Health Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing direct care and support to teenage youth in a 24-hour facility.

Responsibilities:
  • Engage in the constant supervision of children individually and in groups to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Complete Special Incident Reports as required and document daily progress.
  • Assist youth in developing social, hygiene, and other essential skills.
  • Administer discipline and set limits for behaviors, while promoting a positive and respectful environment.
  • Attend all required training sessions, meetings, and orientation classes.
  • Participate in shift exchanges and supervise family visits, appointments, and off-ground activities.
  • Document and communicate daily findings to professional staff and management.
  • Prepare food and maintain a clean living environment.
  • Assist with medication administration and follow all medication guidelines.
  • Support youth with homework assignments and provide a positive role model.
  • Comply with all state, local, and licensure requirements, as well as agency policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Majoring in Psychology, Social Work, or Mental Health, or a related field.
  • 60 units or AA degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience working with at-risk youth.
  • Non-relevant Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Relevant Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science with 1-year relevant experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Clearance requirements, including Live Scan fingerprinting and a good driving record.
