Position Title: Individual and Planned Giving Manager
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Individual and Planned Giving Manager acts as the main liaison for individual contributors, responding to inquiries, nurturing relationships, and identifying potential donors interested in making planned contributions to the organization. This role oversees the daily operations of the Planned Giving Program, working under the guidance of the Vice President and Chief Development Officer, with direct oversight from the Director of Development. This position is primarily office-based with limited remote work options.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the main contact for individual donor inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses from the Development team. Integrate donors into the planned giving cultivation pipeline as appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Director of Development to create an annual Planned Giving strategy, including goals and objectives, and support its successful execution.
- Act as the primary liaison for current and prospective members of the planned giving society, maintaining regular communication and stewardship.
- Draft all acknowledgment letters and correspondence to ensure donors, trustees, and executors receive necessary documentation related to bequests and planned gifts.
- Maintain and update records of prospective and current planned giving donors in the organization's donor database.
- Work with the Director of Development and Database Administrator to identify potential planned giving donors within the existing database, ensuring proper tracking of interactions through cultivation and stewardship.
- Coordinate with external vendors to develop marketing materials, including web content and print collateral, to promote planned giving opportunities.
- Research trends in planned giving and emerging marketing tools; provide updates and recommendations to enhance the planned giving program.
- Prepare reports on the status of the planned giving program for auditors and annual reporting.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Required: BA/BS degree or four years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- Required:
- Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising.
- Demonstrated ability to build trust and provide excellent donor service and stewardship.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, MSO 365, and donor management databases.
- Preferred:
- Three years of experience in planned giving fundraising, including the development of effective marketing campaigns.
- Familiarity with military organizations and their structures.
- Understanding of the organization's mission and history.
- Customer-service oriented with a solid grasp of development functions and donor stewardship practices.
- Experience with software for donor and prospect research.

Compensation: Salary range is $75,000 - $80,000, based on qualifications.
