Project Architect Job Description

Your Opportunity

A Project Architect at Stantec is a licensed professional responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of the public. This role requires a broad set of experience and knowledge, with a focus on complex tasks and small projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and apply building codes, energy codes, and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Utilize BIM technologies to develop three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
  • Prepare and revise documentation, including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, and details.
  • Coordinate building systems and associated documentation, including clash detection within the BIM model.
  • Conduct field observation and report progress of construction.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, and prepare site observation reports.
  • Evaluate building design using sustainable design principles.
  • Lead project coordination and site meetings with internal team members and external consultants.
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of specifications and recommend building systems and materials.
  • Participate in constructability review and bidding and negotiation phase.
  • Coordinate and direct external consultants and conduct quality assurance and quality control.
  • Assist in preparation of project budget, schedule, and overall work planning.
Capabilities and Credentials
  • Ability to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
  • Ability to apply accessibility codes and applicable building codes to a wide variety of project scopes and complexity.
  • Experience with modeling/drafting software, including Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in architecture is required. Minimum of 10 years of experience is required, with registration as a licensed Architect in Texas. LEED Green Associate or LEED AP and education experience is preferred.
