Job Summary

The Public Health Medical Officer III will serve as a technical consultant on a major phase of the public safety and health program of the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA). The successful candidate will assist the Deputy Chief of Health in planning, organizing, and directing the Cal/OSHA Medical Unit program to control occupational illnesses and injuries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct a wide scope of activities, including medical consultations, research, and program development.
  • Assist the Deputy Chief of Health in planning, organizing, and directing the Cal/OSHA Medical Unit program.
  • Establish or improve services in connection with the program.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to achieve program goals.
Requirements
  • Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California.
  • Possession of a valid certificate issued by a recognized medical board.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in occupational medicine.
  • Training and work experience in medical toxicology.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
