Alumni Director Job Description
Jesuit High School of New Orleans seeks a skilled Alumni Director to cultivate and maintain a strategic, vibrant, and robust connection to alumni of all generations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Spearhead the development of alumni individual and class leadership, identifying potential leaders, cultivating alumni committees and volunteers, and maintaining relationships with alumni of all ages.
- Cultivate and train dedicated alumni class leadership teams responsible for energizing their respective classes and ensuring maximum participation in annual giving efforts, Jesuit events, and class engagement events.
- Support and organize alumni annual giving, securing class-level volunteers/callers for the Alumni Giving Drive and attending and participating in all AGD events.
- Implement targeted alumni outreach, developing and executing segmented communication strategies for various alumni cohorts, including personalized outreach, age-specific communications, and targeted event invitations to foster community and reconnect classmates.
- Utilize data-driven engagement strategies, ensuring consistent updates on the impact of alumni contributions and publicly celebrating philanthropic milestones, class accomplishments, and more to facilitate ongoing support.
- Track and assess the success of alumni engagement efforts through metrics such as event attendance, participation rates, and alumni feedback.
- Provide regular updates and acknowledgments, ensuring consistent updates on the impact of alumni contributions and publicly acknowledging milestones reached to foster trust and encourage ongoing support.
- Highlight alumni contributions in communications, incorporating stories of alumni contributions and their impact on the school in communications like Jaynotes, social media, and the website, recognizing alumni who contribute both financially and through volunteer efforts.
- Strategically develop alumni programming, creatively designing and implementing new programs and initiatives that align with the school's advancement and strategic goals, ensuring these programs foster strong alumni engagement and support the broader mission of Jesuit High School.
- Coordinate the following annual events: Alumni Homecoming Mass & Reception (serving as Alumnus of the Year liaison); Alumnus of the Year Dinner; Commencement Luncheon; Career Day (with JHS guidance office).
- Coordinate the following committees: Alumni Captains' Committee (meets twice per year); Alumni Steering Committee (meets twice per year).
- Collaborate with the development team, regularly working together with development and major gifts colleagues to promote seamless integration of alumni affairs and development efforts.
- Cultivate personal alumni relationships at school events throughout the year.
- Coordinate or delegate 5-year alumni reunions and up to six niche reunions per year.
- Hold weekly alumni affairs meetings.
- Oversee the program for maintaining alumni contact information.
- Organize and lead the committee that makes recommendations to the president for the following: Alumnus of the Year, Distinguished Military Alumnus, Alumnus of the Year, Archdiocesan Distinguished Alumnus Award.
- Coordinate the alumni component of the Thanksgiving Drive.
- Secure alumni tour guides for Open House.
- Serve as a member of the Rivalry Game planning committee (Jesuit vs. Holy Cross football).
- Invite alumni to speak at morning assembly.
- Assist with writing alumni segments for Jaynotes (bi-annual publication) and the website.
- Attend JSN and advancement conferences and other professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
- Skill in marshalling engagement from volunteer leaders.
- Proven ability to interact on a professional level with alumni of all ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to keep information, especially financial data, confidential.
- Understanding of and appreciation for Jesuit High School of New Orleans and its history.
- Proven track record of meeting performance goals.
- Proficiency with verbal and written communication.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- General understanding of database navigation and entry.
