With a mission that spans across the United States and beyond, USCRI offers essential legal, social, and health services to diverse populations including refugees, unaccompanied minors, and survivors of trafficking.

PROGRAM INITIATIVE

In collaboration with the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, USCRI is poised to implement the Welcome Corps initiative. This innovative program empowers groups of private citizens to form Private Sponsorship Groups (PSGs) that assist refugees in their transition to life in the United States. By facilitating self-sufficiency and integration, PSGs play a crucial role in helping refugees rebuild their lives.

USCRI is actively seeking to hire three dedicated program officers to oversee approximately 50 PSGs, ensuring the effective delivery of essential resettlement services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide comprehensive support and oversight to PSGs throughout the sponsorship period, including pre-arrival preparations;
  • Offer mentorship to PSGs post-arrival to guarantee the provision of core sponsorship services;
  • Develop strategies to prevent sponsorship breakdowns and respond effectively if they occur;
  • Implement policies to ensure the safety and well-being of refugees, addressing potential risks such as exploitation and violence;
  • Review and analyze PSG reports at 30 and 90 days;
  • Coordinate with the Community Sponsorship Hub regarding PSG activities and refugee travel;
  • Devise and execute a recruitment and training strategy for PSGs;
  • Collaborate with USCRI's various programs to share best practices and resources;
  • Document insights and lessons learned to enhance the Welcome Corps initiative;
  • Engage in public communications, including social media outreach, as necessary;
  • Contribute as a proactive member of the Refugee and Social Services Division, working collaboratively to achieve organizational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Master's degree in social work or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree with significant relevant experience is required.

  • Experience in refugee services or related fields that enhance access to resources for underserved populations;
  • Proven ability to provide training and technical assistance to service providers or volunteers;
  • Experience in volunteer recruitment and mobilization;
  • Strong understanding of the needs and services available to refugees and immigrants;
  • Professional demeanor with a positive attitude and ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal abilities;
  • Highly adaptable, capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel;
  • Willingness to travel domestically as needed;
  • Commitment to USCRI's values, including respect for diversity and dedication to human rights.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of USCRI's Orientation and Program Trainings;
  • Participation in additional training as determined by management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity;
  • Capacity for prolonged periods of sitting and standing;
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
