Job Summary

The Bartender serves food and beverage to restaurant guests in a timely fashion, ensuring excellent service and guest satisfaction every time. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality service to all guests, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
  • Know and live the mission and the White Lodging/brand basics, demonstrating a deep understanding of the company's values and culture.
  • Complete all necessary setup, side work, and closing duties as assigned, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Check the restaurant before, after, and during shift for cleanliness and remove any debris, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for guests and staff.
  • Maintain high cleaning standards of the bar and perform daily cleaning and side work, adhering to company standards.
  • Check bar glasses for cleanliness and ensure they are free from cracks, chips, and stains.
  • Be knowledgeable of all menu items, their garnish, contents, and preparation methods, and be prepared to answer any guest questions in a direct and concise manner.
  • Know any daily features and specials the restaurant is offering, and use suggestive selling and up-selling techniques to increase the check average.
  • Take guest orders correctly, read the order back to the guest, and ring orders correctly into the point-of-sale system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Check food presentation before taking the food from the kitchen to the guest, ensuring hot food is hot and fresh.
  • Check guest satisfaction with food quality within two bites, addressing any concerns or issues promptly.
  • Present checks correctly, free from errors, and in a timely manner, ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Follow and comply with all White Lodging cash handling policies and end-of-shift paperwork, maintaining accurate records and adhering to company standards.
  • Follow all White Lodging policies and procedures, including work procedures and attendance, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and professionalism.
  • Learn and maintain all information regarding the hotel, engaging in pre-shift briefings and staying up-to-date on company news and initiatives.
  • Promote teamwork and a friendly, safe work environment, fostering a positive and inclusive culture.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Follow all AL standards of uniform, presenting a professional and polished appearance at all times.
  • Know all bar products on offer to guests, providing expert knowledge and recommendations to enhance the dining experience.
  • Make conversation with guests, creating a personal connection and building rapport, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience.
  • Ensure guests are not overserved beverages if intoxicated, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
  • Be able to take out kegs, fetch new kegs, and hook up, performing heavy lifting and moving kegs with the assistance of a colleague.

Education/Experience

Previous restaurant or bar experience is preferred but not essential. Previous customer service role is also preferred but not essential.

Working Conditions

The Bartender must be able to stand and move at a fast pace for long periods of time, and must be able to work long hours when business needs require.
