Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Custodian III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of our state hospital buildings and treatment units.

**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Perform highly complex custodial work, including cleaning, sanitizing, and inspecting buildings and equipment.
2. Provide housekeeping services in a clinical setting, including conducting inspections of buildings and equipment.
3. Order and restock supplies and equipment as needed.
4. Provide backup support to other custodians as required.
5. Work under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

**Essential Job Functions:**
1. Attend work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy.
2. Maintain cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment, and maintain records of the supplies used, and building property maintenance tools/equipment.
3. Ensure proper usage and maintenance, and if necessary, minor repairs on buildings and equipment.
4. Ensure custodial supplies are restocked.
5. Coordinate and perform the cleaning, dusting, and disinfecting of restrooms, all office surfaces/furniture, treatment areas, patient bedrooms, and other hospital areas, utilizing cleaning chemicals as needed.
6. Ensure all waste/trash is collected and disposed of regularly.
7. Ensure all patient units meet or exceed the minimum standard guidelines for cleanliness, health and safety, and infection control.
8. Inspect the buildings and identify any problem areas in need of follow up, and ensure follow-up occurs.
9. Assist the Custodian Manager in implementing the overall hospital safety and infection control program.

**Requirements:**
1. Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures to include how to dust, sweep and mop.
2. Knowledge of how to strip and wax floors.
3. Knowledge of how to clean and disinfect restrooms and shower stalls.
4. Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.
5. Skills in the use of custodial materials and chemicals, and in the operation of custodial equipment.
6. Skills in the use and maintenance of building maintenance tools and equipment.
7. Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions.
8. Ability to stay on task and complete work timely.
9. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
10. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
11. Ability to stand/walk on hard floors for extended periods.
12. Ability to work harmoniously and productively with co-workers and patients.
13. Ability to work irregular hours.

**Working Conditions:**
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
