Director of Facilities Operations Manager

The Director of Facilities Operations is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the comprehensive maintenance and repair program for North Carolina A&T State University. This individual will contribute to the development of the campus master plan and direct activities to implement the plan.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a workforce of over 180 employees, in-house project managers, and construction contractors in the renovation, maintenance, and repair of campus facilities.
- Oversee the development and implementation of the campus master plan, ensuring alignment with the university's strategic goals.
- Provide leadership and direction to the facilities team, promoting a culture of excellence and customer service.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless delivery of facilities services, including maintenance, repairs, and renovations.
- Develop and manage budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources to meet facilities needs.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements, applying this knowledge to improve facilities operations and services.
- Master's degree in architectural, electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering, or a related field.
- Four years of technical and supervisory experience in facility, construction, and project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Additional experience in project scheduling, NC Building Codes, and familiarity with OSHA rules and regulations is required.
- At least six years of technical and supervisory experience in a multi-building environment performing facilities and grounds maintenance is preferred.
- Licensed/Professional Engineer Certification is highly desirable.
- Membership in the Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers (APPA) is a plus.
This is a full-time, exempt position that requires a 40-hour workweek, 12 months per year. The successful candidate will be required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
