About the Role:

General Dynamics Ordnance & Tactical Systems is seeking a skilled Heat Treatment Operator to join our team on the 3rd shift. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating heat treatment furnaces, ensuring high-quality products meet our stringent standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate heat treatment furnaces to achieve optimal results
  • Inspect parts and review quality to ensure they meet specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to understand production requirements
  • Input data into the CIMA system for accurate labor reporting and part tracking
  • Perform SPC reporting as required and maintain accurate logbooks
  • Use hand tools to make adjustments to mechanical devices related to the heat treat furnace
  • Work with minimal supervision to meet production deadlines

Requirements:

  • High school education or equivalent combination of experience
  • One year of experience working in heat treatment
  • Knowledge of gages and instruments required for the job
  • Functional math skills and basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs. and heavier parts with power devices
  • Normal vision or correctable to perform job tasks

Work Environment:

The work environment is fast-paced, with elevated temperatures, thick smoke, dirt, and grease. You must be physically able to lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs. and handle materials up to 900 degrees with proper tools.
