Job Summary

The City of Arlington is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Systems Technician to join our team. As an Electrical Systems Technician, you will be responsible for assisting in the performance of corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on the electrical components and instrumentation in the water and wastewater systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the maintenance of electrical systems, including complex, specialized, and high-voltage systems and equipment.
  • Participate in the performance of corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance of electrical components and instrumentation.
  • Learn and utilize PC and other computer software and equipment to install, maintain, calibrate, program, and repair plant supervisory, control, and data acquisition (SCADA) computers and components.
  • Assist in security checks of department facilities, equipment, and work activities.
  • Respond to customer requests and assist in conducting special projects and studies for management as requested.
  • Serve in an on-call and/or after-hours capacity as needed.
  • Serve on the Water Treatment Safety Committee and perform work in a safe manner using safety equipment according to department safety procedures and policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and vocational/technical training including course work in computer science, electrical and instrument repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Possession of a valid Texas Operator's License, Class C. Required to obtain a Class "D" Water Operator's License or higher from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, within five (5) months of employment.
  • Criminal Background, Physical and Human Performance Evaluation (HPE), Drug Alcohol, and Motor Vehicle Review (MVR) required.

Working Conditions

The incumbent is subject to fume/odor, dust/mites, chemical, toxic waste, mechanical, electrical, radiation, and explosive hazards.
