Role Summary

The Healthcare Revenue Recovery Specialist is responsible for the efficient collection of outstanding hospital claim balances due to underpayments or denials. This role involves handling appeals or grievances with health insurance providers, correcting claims, and addressing various payment obstacles. The specialist ensures timely and thorough collection of outstanding insurance balances by adhering to established guidelines for billing, coding, collections, payment posting, and customer service. Success in this role is achieved through diligent follow-up and collaboration with insurance providers and their appeals departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve collection aging targets in alignment with client objectives and Titan policies, aiming for resolution within 45 days of initial action.
  • Meet collection action and frequency targets as stipulated by client requirements and Titan standards.
  • Accurately enter and track follow-up and payment data in Titan and client claims systems.
  • Document all activities in Titan and client systems to reflect progressive actions taken.
  • Ensure timely collection of outstanding appeals and grievances.
  • Conduct consistent follow-ups via phone with the relevant health insurance plans regarding short payments or denials.
  • Utilize appeal logic arguments based on written guidelines provided by the Auditor.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of appeal letters to insurance providers.
  • Identify and submit necessary documentation required by insurance plans for resolving appeals or grievances.
  • Address and resolve denials, including escalating appeals when necessary.
  • Recognize payments and assist with client-specific invoicing processes as needed.
  • Engage in progressive actions on every account interaction, ensuring that each contact advances the collection process.
  • Meet or exceed production and quality benchmarks established by Titan and hospital clients.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred experience in hospital billing.
  • Hospital coding experience and certification are advantageous.
  • Experience in customer and client services is beneficial.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Attention to detail in data entry is critical.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid billing and claims processes is preferred.
  • Professional demeanor in both appearance and attitude is expected.
Compensation: Starting at $18.00 per hour
