Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Transportation Specialist to join our team at Durham School Services. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of students to and from school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a school bus or other location-specific vehicle with a fixed or changing route, ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times.
  • Exhibit the highest level of professionalism and personal integrity, adhering to our company's values and policies.
  • Report to duty on time and maintain routes on schedule, while prioritizing safety above all else.
  • Physically assist passengers in emergency evacuations and report any incidents or accidents to management.
  • Follow company policies and procedures for student and passenger management, ensuring a positive and respectful experience for all.
  • Complete all required paperwork and submit to the appropriate authority in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a cooperative attitude with fellow employees, supervisors, customers, and passengers, promoting company goodwill at all times.
  • Safely and efficiently utilize vehicle equipment, including wheelchair lifts, radios, and emergency equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age (25 years of age for Tennessee School Bus Drivers per state law).
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain all valid applicable state licenses and certifications to operate company vehicles.
  • Must meet physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening.
  • Must satisfactorily complete and pass all training programs.
  • Must practice defensive driving at all times and avoid vehicular and industrial accidents.
  • Must comply with all applicable federal, state, county, district, and contract-specific driver requirements.
