Summary

As a vital member of the maintenance team, you will be tasked with ensuring cleanliness and sanitation across all county facilities. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of cleaning agents and equipment, alongside a high school diploma or equivalent experience. A valid Texas Driver's License is required, along with the ability to pass a comprehensive background check and physical examination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain cleanliness within all county facilities.
  • Polish and clean various surfaces including light fixtures, marble, and walls.
  • Perform floor care tasks such as sweeping, scrubbing, and waxing.
  • Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
  • Wash walls, ceilings, and windows.
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling efforts.
  • Restock restroom supplies as needed.
  • Implement odor control measures throughout facilities.
  • Operate cleaning machinery including vacuums and buffers.
  • Conduct inventory checks for cleaning supplies.
  • Supervise work release personnel effectively.
  • Ensure security of janitorial supplies and equipment.
  • Store and label cleaning chemicals appropriately.
  • Assess and requisition cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations as required.
  • Operate vehicles as necessary.
  • Adhere to county policies regarding attendance and documentation.
  • Be available for emergency maintenance calls as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements

Qualifications: High School Graduate or equivalent experience with at least one year in a similar role. Valid Texas Driver's License required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Understanding of janitorial practices and supervision principles. Proficient in computer usage. Familiarity with county policies and safe equipment operation. Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.

Physical Demands: This role requires prolonged periods of standing and walking, as well as the ability to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Candidates should be comfortable working in various environments, including confined spaces and exposure to different weather conditions.
