Overview

Virginia Mason Medical Center, a dynamic and historic community hospital in the center of beautiful Seattle, Washington, has an opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider, ARNP or PA-C in Palliative Care. Our teams vision is to provide comprehensive palliative care services to any Virginia Mason patient and family dealing with a serious illness.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Palliative Care APP who can deliver high-quality patient care and support our interprofessional team. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and excellent communication skills, with the ability to connect with patients and their families. The APP will work in our outpatient clinic, which is embedded in our Cancer Institute, and will have the opportunity to follow established patients in the hospital.

Qualifications

An ideal candidate will:

  • Have a strong clinical background and remain well-informed of the newest Palliative Care treatments.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, with both co-workers and patients and families.
  • Be willing to work collaboratively as part of a team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Experience and Certifications

(Nurse Practitioner)

  • Washington State Registered Nurse License and an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License are required for this job.
  • Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and National Provider Identifier (NPI) numbers may be required depending on the position, as well as prescriptive authority.
  • Advanced background in nursing; an understanding of anatomy, physiology, histology, and pharmacology; and strong interpersonal and counseling skills.
  • Certification by specialty area as well as work experience in specialty area may be required, depending on the position.
  • BLS required

(Physician Assistant-C)

  • This position requires Certification as a Physician Assistant with prescriptive authority in the State of Washington.
  • Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and National Provider Identifier (NPI) numbers may be required depending on the position, as well as prescriptive authority.
  • BLS required
