We are offering a remarkable opportunity for an Information Security Engineer (SkillBridge Conversion) to join our Engineering Division.

If selected, your responsibilities will include:

  • Cultivating a professional relationship with the NASA client and other support contractors
  • Conducting assessments to ensure design and implementation completeness throughout the entire software and hardware development lifecycle
  • Assisting in the creation of Critical Design Review (CDR) and readiness review materials and participating in module system evaluations
  • Collaborating with the cybersecurity team to establish and uphold the gateway ground security strategy
  • Formulating cybersecurity requirements for ground control and spacecraft systems
  • Partnering with spacecraft module vendors to develop cybersecurity plans and verify adherence
  • Executing cybersecurity oversight and impact evaluations
  • Aiding in the investigation and resolution of cybersecurity incidents
  • Ensuring compliance with scanning protocols for spacecraft systems as per government, NASA, and Johnson Space Center-specific guidelines
  • Addressing and resolving findings in the security assessment report through remediation or risk evaluation
  • Coordinating with external entities to facilitate cybersecurity remediation
  • Performing additional duties as assigned or required​

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a related field or relevant experience is typically required
  • Eligibility for U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance
  • Experience with avionics systems
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced engineering environment with demanding clients on tight schedules
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and coordination skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Background in cybersecurity impact assessment and remediation
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity controls and standards
  • Experience in risk assessment and implementation of risk mitigation strategies
  • Proficiency in team collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Webex, Skype, SharePoint, Jira
  • Capability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prepare written documents/presentations and deliver verbal presentations at various meetings
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and coordination skills with a focus on customer service
  • Effective communication across a wide range of technical disciplines, with vendors/contractors, direct clients, and upper management​

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with controls and requirements, including NIST SP 'Recommended Security Controls for Federal Information Systems'
  • Understanding of NASA NPR2810.1A 'Security of Information Technology Requisition'
  • Experience in cybersecurity planning and auditing
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity vulnerability scanning
  • Experience in avionics cybersecurity system maintenance (disabling services, effective countermeasures, intrusion detection, firewall configuration, etc.)
  • Experience with hardware and software integration​

Essential Functions

Work Environment:

Generally, an office setting, but may involve both indoor and outdoor work depending on the task.

Physical Requirements:

Work may require sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May involve lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

Equipment and Machines:

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance:

Regular attendance following an established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal hours and adjust the schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Professional conduct that enhances productivity and fosters teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and attire must be suitable for the position and must not pose a safety risk to the employee or others.
