Position Summary:
The Chief Engineer within the Central & Digital Engineering Department plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategy, standards, and processes that drive Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Transformation initiatives. This position involves representing the engineering domain in technical discussions, approving tailored processes, and ensuring adherence to established standards. The Chief Engineer may lead teams directly or indirectly to achieve exceptional business results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement the strategic vision for the engineering domain, ensuring alignment with product strategies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote process excellence and integrate MBSE and Digital Engineering capabilities.
  • Evaluate engineering requirements and design digitally transformed processes to achieve superior outcomes.
  • Assist in project planning and risk management, effectively communicating potential risks and opportunities.
  • Identify and address domain-specific needs, fostering a collaborative team atmosphere.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and engineering excellence, monitoring performance and refining processes as necessary.
  • Remove obstacles and enhance agility within the development framework.
  • Guide junior engineers and remain informed about industry standards and emerging technologies.

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field or a relevant technical discipline.
  • 15+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Capability to obtain a US DOD Secret Level Clearance.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • 8+ years of experience in the Aerospace and/or Defense sector.
  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional Certification (CSEP) is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proven expertise in Systems Engineering activities, including architecture development, requirement generation, and verification processes.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with a talent for leading through influence.
  • Proficiency in requirement management tools such as DOORS/Jama.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools, preferably Cameo.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and product lifecycle management.
  • Experience in implementing enterprise-wide MBSE concepts and fostering cultural transformation.
  • Knowledge of developing products adhering to Open Architectures standards.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in stakeholder briefings.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a Digital Engineering Ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with 3DEXPERIENCE as a Digital Engineering Backbone.
  • Experience in Virtual Verification of requirements and modeling/simulation using ANSYS/MATLAB.
  • Expertise in strategic planning, roadmap development, and project execution.
