Position Summary:
The Principal Systems Engineer plays a critical role in transforming user requirements into comprehensive system specifications. This position involves defining system architecture and conducting thorough systems analysis, including design trade-offs, throughput considerations, and risk assessment. Collaborating with cross-disciplinary engineering teams, the Systems Engineer will develop, test, and refine instrument and module designs, ensuring they meet established requirements prior to production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the creation of system-level concepts and analyses for new project initiatives, providing constructive feedback on proposals.
- Prepare detailed cost and schedule estimates for major design development projects, offering technical support to the Business Development Team.
- Plan and oversee engineering testing to assess product or process performance, translating findings into design criteria.
- Collaborate with various engineering disciplines to ensure that instrument or module designs align with system requirements.
- Facilitate Technical Design Reviews throughout the development phases to ensure that both conceptual and detailed designs meet all necessary requirements.
- Contribute to System Integration efforts and lead Design Verification activities, defining and supervising testing and analysis to document results effectively.
- Support the design review and phase gate processes to guarantee compliance with FDA/ISO standards.
- Oversee the development of requirements across multiple engineering disciplines, including Software, Electrical, Mechanical, and Electro-optics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- A minimum of 9 years of experience in complex electro-mechanical systems engineering.
- Experience in hardware/software integration.
- Availability for regular onsite presence is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Engineering.
- Experience in the medical device sector.
- Extensive development experience in one or more engineering disciplines, including software, mechanical, electrical, and optics, with a strong grasp of advanced theories and principles.
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership during the investigation of complex medical instrumentation products.
