Overview:


The Graduate Programs at Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSMGP) encompass the Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT), Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Medical Science (MMS) from the Physician Assistant Program, and Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (MBS).


The Office of Graduate Student Services (OGSS) at TUSM oversees the administrative functions of the Medical School's graduate programs, which include admissions, recruitment marketing, registration, career services, and student services for over 1,100 students across various modalities.

The Chief of Graduate Student Services reports to the Associate Dean of Student Services and works closely with program leaders and university partners.


Our graduate programs include residential, online, and hybrid formats, with residencies located in multiple cities.

These diverse modalities create unique needs for each program.

Enhancing student engagement is a priority for OGSS, and we seek a leader who can collaborate with various academic areas to develop tailored programs for students.


OGSS is eager to welcome an enthusiastic individual ready to foster growth and transformation within our student community.

We are looking for someone who can build capacity and creatively solve problems to lead OGSS and prepare for future growth.


Key Responsibilities:


This position is offered as a hybrid role, requiring onsite presence at our Health Sciences campus several days a week, with specific days to be determined in coordination with management.

The Chief of Graduate Student Services is a leadership position focused on supporting the students of TUSM's graduate programs.

The primary focus is on managing and evolving programs, services, and accommodations to enhance student engagement and success.

The Chief will spearhead initiatives to promote student involvement, ensure access to resources, and cultivate partnerships with academic leadership.


Specific responsibilities include overseeing major student events (such as orientations, commencement ceremonies, awards dinners, and student elections), managing student accommodations, maintaining the student handbook, and fostering alumni networks.


The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in student affairs, a strong understanding of current higher education trends, and a proven track record of collaboration with faculty and academic leaders.

Experience in directly supporting faculty and academic initiatives is essential.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
- Develop and manage orientations for all TUSM Graduate Programs
- Oversee commencement activities and other student programming
- Supervise student government, clubs, and related funds
- Manage disability accommodation requests
- Foster alumni engagement and related activities
- Enhance student involvement in the TUSMGP community
- Advise students on university resources and policies, including updates to the student handbook
- Coordinate student and faculty awards
- Oversee communications with the student body

Preferred Qualifications:
- A cover letter is required for consideration.
- 7-10 years of relevant experience in Student Affairs/Life, including staff supervision and budget management.
- A Master's Degree in higher education or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with graduate students and understanding graduate education issues is preferred.
- Proven experience managing student accommodations.


Experience in a student services environment with a successful programming history, a strong commitment to customer service, and discretion regarding student information is essential.

The ability to manage an organized workload, prioritize responsibilities, and multitask with minimal supervision is required.

A commitment to innovation and student satisfaction in service delivery is crucial.

Exceptional interpersonal skills, sound judgment, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking skills are necessary. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills are also important.
