Job Summary

The Benefits Compliance Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the compliance of Church Pension Group's health and disability businesses. This includes reviewing vendor and client documents, participating in RFPs and vendor selection processes, conducting risk-based audits and assessments, and providing regulatory guidance to the Benefits business units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily compliance reviews of vendor and client documents to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in RFPs and vendor selection processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct risk-based audits and assessments of business units and third-party vendors to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Provide regulatory guidance to the Benefits business units, including Benefits Policy, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate the first-level pension appeals process, including conducting research, proposing resolutions, and drafting acknowledgement and decision letters.
  • Coordinate quarterly Benefit Plans Committee meetings, including setting agendas, gathering and circulating meeting materials, and drafting meeting minutes.
  • Serve as the CPG HIPAA Contact Person and support the development and implementation of HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • Advance the culture of compliance within CPG's three lines of business: benefits, property and casualty insurance, and publishing.
  • Contribute to the strategic thinking and direction of the Business Compliance unit.
  • Act as a change agent in an ever-evolving business compliance environment.
Requirements
  • BA/BS preferred, with a combination of education and experience considered.
  • 3+ years of experience with benefits administration, compliance, and/or regulatory matters.
  • Strong analytical skills and professional judgment, particularly with respect to assessing compliance risk and controls.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from units across the organization.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize competing demands from multiple internal and/or external clients.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Availability for occasional business travel, including overnight stays.
