Position Overview
The Part-Time Assistant Culinary Manager will oversee, guide, and mentor staff to ensure adherence to company quality standards. This role is crucial for the successful and profitable operation of the establishment. Candidates must demonstrate excellent attendance and be prepared to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Attributes such as open availability, professional demeanor, exceptional interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and strong leadership capabilities are essential.
This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $18 to $22.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all kitchen setup, preparation, and cleanup activities. Assign tasks to kitchen personnel effectively.
- Measure, mix, and cook ingredients following established recipes.
- Utilize various kitchen tools and equipment to prepare and serve meals.
- Maintain a spotless kitchen environment, ensuring no food debris remains on any surfaces.
- Provide ongoing support, training, and mentorship to kitchen staff to ensure workplace expectations are met.
- Assist the Executive Chef in maintaining quality, consistency, and adherence to culinary concepts.
- Monitor food preparation to ensure compliance with recipe specifications and portion control.
- Motivate and guide kitchen employees effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and team members.
- Make informed decisions and solve problems efficiently.
- Organize, plan, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Document personnel discipline information and collaborate with Human Resources on related issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within an upscale banquet, hotel, or convention center environment, including prior supervisory experience.
- State-issued Health Certificate and required immunizations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of food preparation techniques.
- Ability to interact positively with diverse individuals, including colleagues, guests, and suppliers.
- Proven capability to develop staff through effective training and motivation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Self-directed while thriving in a collaborative setting.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
- Good sense of taste and smell.
- Serve Safe certification is required.
- Proficient in using computer software, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work closely with kitchen staff while also being capable of independent cooking.
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
- General knowledge of health and safety standards for patrons and staff.
- High level of concentration and ability to multitask.
- Basic mathematical skills, including arithmetic and statistics.
- Familiarity with US Foods Menu Profit Pro is a plus.
