Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and committed MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Systems Engineer.
The MES Systems Engineer will be instrumental in enhancing manufacturing operations by managing and fine-tuning the MES for our EV battery production processes.
This role encompasses Tier 1 support, ensuring the MES operates smoothly, and addressing any challenges that may arise to reduce downtime and uphold production standards.
Complex support and significant system modifications will be managed by the Samsung SDI headquarters team located internationally.
As the primary support contact, this position will handle service requests and document enhancements to facilitate effective communication with the Tier 2 HQ team.
Key Responsibilities:
Support and Maintenance of MES:
- Deliver Tier 1 support for the MES, promptly addressing and resolving system challenges on-site.
- Monitor MES functionality to ensure consistent system performance and reliability.
- Conduct regular system maintenance and updates to maintain MES efficiency.
- Assist with on-site equipment and logistics system testing.
- Manage system operation scenarios, including preventive measures and disaster simulations.
- Execute system monitoring and follow-up actions post-operations.
Optimization of Systems:
- Identify opportunities for system enhancements and implement improvements to boost MES performance.
- Collaborate with various teams and headquarters to integrate MES with other manufacturing systems.
- Assess potential impacts of new implementations and process changes as the on-site expert.
- Support testing of new implementations in coordination with the HQ team.
- Create and maintain MES documentation, including operating procedures and troubleshooting manuals.
Resolution of Issues:
- Diagnose and resolve MES-related issues, collaborating with HQ and on-site teams.
- Escalate complex challenges to Tier 2 support as needed.
- Document all issues and resolutions promptly.
Training and Guidance:
- Educate manufacturing personnel on MES functionalities and best practices.
- Provide ongoing support to ensure effective utilization of the system.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 8+ years of experience in MES support or a similar role, ideally within a manufacturing context.
- Familiarity with EV battery manufacturing is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of MES platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Plex, ION).
- Proficient in SQL, databases, and scripting languages.
- Experience with Oracle databases.
- Background in MES system administration and/or database analysis.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Working Conditions:
- This role may require occasional on-call support and flexible hours to address critical system issues.
- The position may involve working in a manufacturing environment, necessitating adherence to safety protocols.
- This role is based on-site and will require daily commuting.
- May require coordination of video conferences between on-site and HQ teams.
