Job Summary

First Financial CU is seeking a skilled Loan Underwriter to join our team. As a Loan Underwriter, you will be responsible for analyzing loan information and making informed decisions on loan applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loan Application Evaluation
    • Review and assess loan applications submitted by members and dealer partners, analyzing financial ratios, risk factors, bankruptcy indicators, and other relevant criteria.
    • Make decisions to approve, counter, or decline loan offers in alignment with lending policies.
    • Respond promptly and positively to inquiries from members, dealer partners, and management.
    • Keep the supervisor informed of significant issues or concerns.
    • Mentor and support other employees in understanding and executing the loan application process.
  • Dealer Interaction and Follow-Up
    • Follow up with dealers regarding questions or additional information needed for applications submitted through ARC OS/CUDL.
    • Evaluate loan applications submitted by dealers and make decisions within the parameters of loan policy.
    • Occasionally visit dealer partners to maintain and strengthen relationships.
    • Attend car sales events as required to support dealer engagement and loan processing.
  • General Member Services
    • Perform basic services such as notary services, batching, and mailing denial letters.
    • Address and resolve problems by understanding issues, identifying potential solutions, and following up to ensure resolution.
    • Assist in other areas of lending such as Financial Assistance and Mortgages.
  • Non-Essential Functions
    • Assist with Internal Audit loan exception findings.
    • Perform miscellaneous tasks such as filing, scanning, and answering telephones.
    • Attend meetings and actively participate in loan functions and promotions.
    • Other duties as assigned.
