Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Engineer to join our team at Johnson Controls International. As a key member of our Development Team, you will be responsible for leading engineering, field auditing, data analysis processing, and financial modeling tasks on medium to large projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering teams and work effectively with others to drive results and focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Provide technical, process, and financial analysis support to the Development team during the design process.
  • Assist in developing customer business cases for conceptual solutions and lead preliminary and detailed data collection and analysis.
  • Build and maintain detailed development budgets and scopes, and work with internal and external partners to develop energy savings models, cost estimates, and scopes of work.
  • Prepare proposals and customer communication documents, and utilize specialized functional expertise as a development team member.
  • Have a high degree of technical competence in multiple functional areas, capable of assessing design risk and being accountable for all elements of large projects.
  • Understand the full range of JCI offerings and their applications in customer solutions, and lead cross-functional teams in the development of multiple components of the bundled sale.
  • Perform on-site auditing and data collection at customer facilities as required, and perform detailed engineering and financial analysis to quantify cost savings or other customer benefits.
  • Assist in technical or financial benchmarking as needed, and lead in the development of customer baselines.
  • Work directly with the Governance Team to provide risk analysis for the complete solution, and represent the development team in operational reviews of large or technically complex programs.
  • Responsible for creating and managing budgets, timelines, and quality of work on assigned opportunities, and fully utilize the MyWork platform and associated Sharepoint sites, Solutions Playbook, and other standard JCI development processes and tools.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors, and facility mid-level technical and financial managers, and mentor less experienced Program Development staff.
  • May provide post-contract design review support, and actively participate in relevant professional organizations, taking on lead roles within those organizations.
  • Maintain relevant professional certifications and licenses, and be responsible for the promotion and adherence of JCI safety policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, with eight years or more experience in designing/selling building systems, energy modeling, construction, or facility management.
  • Undergrad experience performing building modeling preferred, and function-specific licenses or certifications preferred.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expert (SME) in a minimum of 30 Facility Improvement Measures, and possess strong analytical capabilities and ability to manage tasks associated with development of projects.
  • Fully competent in analysis and assessment of facility mechanical and electrical systems, and demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, work effectively with others, drive for results, focus on the customer, and act professionally and ethically.
  • Has demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, and is comfortable working in customer-facing situations, with solid computer skills, including an understanding of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Sharepoint sites, building energy modeling tools (eQuest), benchmarking tools, etc.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50%.
