POSITION SUMMARY:


We are in search of a Quality Assurance Architect with extensive experience in functional testing to spearhead and guide quality assurance initiatives. This role involves crafting and executing comprehensive test plans and cases across retail and e-commerce platforms, including but not limited to Retail Management Systems, Warehouse Management Systems, and IBM Sterling Order Management Systems.

In this leadership capacity, you will oversee various projects while collaborating with business stakeholders, engineers, and vendors. You will also be responsible for recruiting and managing Quality Engineering contractors as necessary based on project demands. Your ultimate goal will be to build a robust team of testing engineers that will operate within the International IT division. You will be expected to establish new testing environments for specific platforms as required.


Your expertise in programming languages and logical reasoning will enable you to comprehend business requirements and application functionalities, allowing you to troubleshoot issues and enhance overall system performance.

We seek versatile engineers who exhibit leadership qualities and possess a passion for problem-solving across the full technology stack, especially as we continue to test and implement new features in a dynamic environment.

You will need to grasp the business requirements and functionalities of various applications.

Our project teams operate in an agile framework, executing two-week sprints that culminate in demonstrations of ongoing features. A quick learning ability, coupled with strong analytical reasoning skills, is essential. Adaptability to high-pressure situations is also crucial, as you will collaborate with engineers both onsite and offshore, engaging hands-on with the code from the outset.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team Development: The International IT team is expanding, necessitating the hiring and training of new resources (contractors, consultants, or full-time) within the Quality Engineering team.
  • Effective Communication: Monitor project progress concerning time, scope, quality, and budget; relay project status and updates to the PMO and senior leadership.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop testing strategies and timelines, including functional, integration, and end-to-end testing across various platforms. Create test plans and scenarios based on project requirements.
  • Flexibility: Working within a global organization will require accommodating meetings at various times to align with different time zones.
  • Proactive Approach: Decompose large, complex projects into manageable tasks for the team to facilitate iterative delivery.
  • Comprehensive Knowledge: Guide the Quality team towards automation test script development, with a thorough understanding of the SDLC process and methodologies.
  • Testing Expertise: Evaluate complex retail software and order management applications in a cross-product platform environment.
  • Environment Setup: Establish testing environments on platforms as needed.
  • Documentation: Write user acceptance and regression testing criteria, assisting in data setup for end-to-end testing by understanding the data model architecture.
  • Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot problems and analyze debug logs.
  • Defect Management: Document, track, and validate defects in the bug tracking system with clear summaries, screenshots, expected behavior, actual behavior, and additional details.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience leading Quality teams and managing complex IT projects.
  • A minimum of 6 years in a Software Quality Engineering/Test role.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and knowledge of retail systems.
  • Experience with bug tracking systems, particularly Jira and other Confluence tools.
  • Understanding of APIs, including SOAP and REST endpoints using JSON and XML data.
  • Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and JavaScript for software development or automation.
  • Basic skills in writing and executing SQL queries are advantageous.

Familiarity with Modern Technologies:
Microservices, Cloud Native applications, Kubernetes, or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo.
  • Experience with test management tools is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a critical thinking ability to solve problems.
  • Work on cloud-based modern technologies being developed in-house for Point-of-Sale systems.
This role will function as a Technical Lead rather than a people manager.

The candidate will be responsible for driving the QA Strategy.

Strong experience with Jira and JMeter for load testing is essential.

Automation experience, particularly with Selenium, is required.

Experience with test assessments is also crucial.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with Selenium and any BDD automation framework such as JBehave or Cucumber.
